David Perdue, who was shot at by the LAPD while they were hunting for Christopher Dorner  David Perdue during the manhunt for former LAPD cop Christopher Dorner, who at the time was out to murder as many of his ex-colleagues as he could. At the time the officer came after Perdue, Dorner had already shot two sheriff’s deputies, killing one, and gunned down the daughter of an LAPD officer and her boyfriend.

Fearful that Dorner might go after a local LA police official next, Torrance cops pulled over Perdue on February 7, asked him a few questions, then let him drive away. A few seconds later a second cop car rammed his truck, and an unnamed officer fired three shots, all of which (thankfully) missed. Perdue’s attorney also alleges that he was dragged from his vehicle afterward. Dorner, by the way, was black and Perdue is white.

Sheriff John McMahon of the San Bernadino Police Department led the investigation for the Pursuit to catch Dorner in Big Bear California and throughout the San Bernadino California area over the 9 day Manhunt

His department led to the end of the manhunt but came under investigation when police said the blaze that is believed to have killed alleged gunman Dorner was accidental, but a recording of radio transmissions between dispatchers and police officers from his department could tell a different story.

“We did not intentionally burn down that cabin to get Mr. Dorner out,” said Sheriff John McMahon  adding that officers deployed pyrotechnic tear gas into the cabin

The week-long hunt for Dorner, suspected of killing four people, came to an end when the cabin at Big Bear Lake was destroyed by fire after a shootout that claimed the life of a sheriff’s deputy.

Dorner never emerged from the ruins and, hours later, a charred body was found in the basement along with a wallet and personal items, including a California driver’s license.

Karam Kaoud Hero Cab Driver

Karam had been driving his cab for the Bell Cab Co. in Riverside when a silver Nissan Titan pulled up alongside him at a red light, edged forward, then slowly ran the light. He watched as the driver methodically aimed and fired across the lane at two officers in a squad car on the other side of the road. Kaoud said he jumped out of his cab and ran across the street. He asked the officers what he could do. One of them, Andrew Tachias, told him to radio for help. Kaoud pressed the button on the officers’ car radio, and Tachias — shot eight times — said “officer down.” When backup arrived, Kaoud — a Palestinian raised in Dubai who had recently become an American citizen — says he raised his hands in the air. Officers have said that, without his help, officer Tachias may not have made it.
